Hiring a Pattaya lawyer to get rental deposit back from landlord

I am trying to get my deposit back from my former Thai landlord for a house we rented in Pattaya, the amount is not little 160,000 baht. Has anyone had any success with getting a deposit returned from a Thai landlord? We know the lawyer will have costs but hope the cost will be much less than the deposit amount. 

We dont want to lose the deposit and also lose on expenses of hiring the service of a lawyer in Pattaya. 

Please does anyone have experience with this?

For 160k it might still be worth getting a lawyer or at least talking to one. Why is the landlord not paying you? What excuses does he have? Sometimes they just need a little extra pushing to pay in my experience.
